Gathering Guru top tips for attendees!

The Gathering 2018 is shaping up to be the biggest and best yet. We can’t wait to see you next week.

Check your schedule

You will have received a confirmation email when you made your booking. Please make sure to check what sessions you are signed up for, please take a note of them or print your schedule and bring it along on the day. If you don’t have it, let us know and we’ll get a copy to you. Please remember we’ll be out the office next week at SEC setting up the event so let us know by Friday if you need a copy.

Filming and photography

As you are aware we will have photographers at the Gathering and some of the events will be live streamed, if you have requested not to be included in photos or film, please let a member of staff know on the main registration desk when you arrive and they will issue you with a badge so our team know not to capture you, please also be aware when sitting at events that you are not in front of one of our cameras live streaming.

Know where you’re going

Have a look at the Scottish Event Campus website for more information about our fab venue. You can also see where it is and get directions on Google maps.  We also have some great local offers on travel & restaurants around the Glasgow from Glasgow Convention Bureau, full details can be found here.

Gathering Guru Tip

As it is part of the exhibition and marketplace, there is no need to book a place for any of the interviews or launches taking place in the Gathering Theatre. Just take a seat and enjoy!

Ones to watch

With so many events to choose from it can be hard to decide which events to attend, so here are just some of our top picks:

Book your place now before all the places go!

Gathering guru tip

Need to relax? Make sure you head to our Health and Wellbeing zone in the exhibition and marketplace where GAMH & West Lothian College – Platinum Salon will be waiting to pamper you. If you’d rather let off some steam, why not pop along and visit our Charity of the Year winner Street Soccer Scotland who’ll be hosting a beat the goalie session over the two days.

Only 15 stands remaining

There is still time to join over 130 organisations and companies who have already signed up to participate, but you need to be quick – there are only 15 stands left! If you’d like to raise your profile at our exhibition & marketplace, contact us to discuss your requirements today, before they all go!

Gathering Guru tip

Everyone attending The Gathering will receive a visitor or exhibitor sticker which allows you access to the exhibition and event rooms (and free use of the cloakroom).  Visitors are more than welcome to bring along their own organisation name badge to make networking easier…or to avoid those embarrassing situations when you forget someone’s name!

New additions

We are delighted to announce that we have four new additions to our Gathering events programme:

Make sure you book your place now to avoid disappointment!

Have a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!

We are now working to create all our event pages and programme ready for the programme launch in January. Remember to keep an eye out on the website & Twitter for updates on The Gathering 2018 programme and booking! Thank you to all 64 organisations who have booked to host an event so far – and remember, it’s not too late to join them, we have a couple of places left to host an event! For more information contact us to discuss your opportunities.

From the Gathering team and all at SCVO we hope you have a great festive period. We look forward to seeing you in the New Year!

Health and Wellbeing Zone confirmed!

We’re excited to announce that the Glasgow Association for Mental Health (GAMH) will be part of our Health and Wellbeing Zone for the first time at The Gathering 2018! GAMH will be bringing along therapists from their ‘My Time’ project to provide massages and pampering to delegates over the two day event, in the exhibition and marketplace.

They will be joined by West Lothian College’s Platinum Salon – returning for their 7th year in a row! – who will be providing delegates with manicures and hair styling.

Gathering Guru tip

Booked a stand at The Gathering? Make sure it’s welcoming and fully set up before the First Minister officially opens the exhibition and marketplace on Wednesday morning! Don’t forget, there’s an opportunity to set up on the Tuesday afternoon and meet other exhibitors. Giveaways are always good to entice people to visit your stand, and even a free pen goes a long way. Make sure all staff are briefed before being on the stand too – you’d be amazed at the difference a friendly smile can make!

Join our exhibition and marketplace

For the past 14 years we have welcomed third sector organisations and social enterprises to our bustling exhibition and marketplace. Located at the centre of The Gathering, it’s such a great place to showcase something new, make new connections and strengthen existing ones.

This year we’re looking for even more interactive experiences, so whether you’ve got some fancy tech to showcase or some interactive art, we’d love you to be part of our exhibition space. Don’t miss out – check who’s already on board and book your stand now!

Gathering Guru tip

If you think your event or participation in the exhibition & marketplace may not be right for The Gathering – think again! The best thing to do is just pick up the phone and speak to one of us here in the SCVO Events Team to discuss your ideas – we’re always happy to help. The Gathering has a wide variety of events and exhibitors taking part – from banks to small social enterprises – so everyone is welcome (and encouraged!) to join in.
